What is
Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapists help enable individuals to engage and participate in a variety of daily living activities. Occupational Therapists use a holistic approach to learn and understand each individual and what is meaningful to them, analyse their environment, and evaluate the skills needed to perform everyday tasks.

Occupations:
An occupation can be defined as a daily activity that an individual does with purpose and meaning. This can include activities such as a hobby, tasks necessary to complete (self-care, daily living etc.), or learning opportunities such as school or work. Individuals can face challenges or barriers in their lives that may make it difficult for them to participate in their roles or daily activities.
Occupational Therapists support individuals to build or regain levels of independence, support skill development, evaluate the environment or task and enable you to achieve success!
THE OT ROLE:
How can OT's support children?
As children develop, their main occupation or activity is play. They learn how to interact with the world through playful encounters as they learn to problem solve, explore and socialise.

A paediatric OT uses the same models and theories regardless of a client's age, however we tailor our therapy approach to be child and family centred.
We identify a child's strengths, their various environments, support networks, and areas of difficulty to encompass a therapy plan that is tailored to the individual.
